Algeria Prioritizes Preservation of Historical Heritage

Algiers, October 11, 2025 – Minister of Mujahideen and Rights Holders, Abdelmalek Tachrifet, affirmed today that safeguarding national memory and protecting Algeria’s historical and cultural heritage are central to the ministry’s priorities.

During his opening address at a guidance meeting for officials and employees of the Ministry of Mujahideen and Rights Holders in Algiers, Minister Tachrifet announced the launch of an ambitious program to support academic research in coordination with universities. This initiative aims to preserve national memory and protect Algeria’s rich historical and cultural heritage.

The Minister emphasized the importance of engaging students and scientific elites in carrying the torch of remembrance and renewing commitment to the values of the November Revolution, which forged Algeria’s glory. He highlighted plans to organize targeted events to foster this engagement.

Furthermore, Minister Tachrifet stated that the ministry is leveraging modern technologies to expand the reach of national memory values through digital platforms and social media. This initiative aims to connect with a wider audience and ensure that Algeria’s history is accessible to all.

The Minister reiterated the importance of maintaining sites of memory, particularly martyrs’ cemeteries and historical monuments. He stressed the need for regular and comprehensive maintenance and restoration to honor the sacrifices of the martyrs and Mujahideen and uphold national symbolism.

Minister Tachrifet also noted that the ministry is implementing a systematic action plan focused on accurately identifying the needs of Mujahideen and rights holders. This plan ensures an effective response to their health, psychological, and social well-being.
