Casablanca, October 11, 2025 – The Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement in Morocco has accused the Moroccan government of complicity with Israel, alleging that it allowed a Danish-flagged vessel, the Marian Danica, to dock and refuel in Casablanca after it was refused entry by authorities in Cape Verde.
In a statement released earlier today, BDS Morocco asserted that the vessel, which spent seven hours in the Casablanca port on Monday, was carrying 18 containers of munitions destined for the Israeli military. The group claims these munitions could be used against the Palestinian people.
BDS Morocco argues that allowing a ship carrying such cargo to refuel in a Moroccan port violates Morocco’s international obligations and contradicts rulings by the International Court of Justice. They further contend that this action is inconsistent with the final statement of the Arab-Islamic summit, which called on nations to suspend the supply, transfer, or transit of weapons, ammunition, and military equipment to Israel, including dual-use materials.
The BDS movement holds the Moroccan authorities fully responsible, morally, legally, and politically, for what it describes as blatant participation in facilitating the supply of resources used for alleged atrocities. They are calling on port workers to refuse services to ships transporting munitions or military equipment that could be used against the Palestinian people, emphasizing that such refusal would demonstrate respect for international law, ethical and humanitarian obligations, and align with the will of the Moroccan people.
Furthermore, BDS Morocco is urging all active forces within Morocco to escalate popular, political, and activist pressure to impose a military embargo on Israel, similar to measures taken by neighboring Spain. They demand a prohibition on the use of Moroccan ports to support what they term an apparatus of destruction. The group is also calling on the international community and human rights organizations to monitor this situation, hold those involved accountable, and ensure the implementation of relevant court decisions.
