Algeria and Oman Explore Joint Investment in Bus and Utility Vehicle Manufacturing

Algiers, October 12, 2025 – Algeria and Oman are exploring potential joint ventures in the manufacturing of buses and specialized utility vehicles, signaling a strengthening of economic ties between the two nations. The Minister of Industry, Yahya Bachir, recently met with the Omani Ambassador to Algeria, Saif bin Nasser Al-Badai, and Dr. Ibrahim Ali Al-Balushi, CEO of the Omani company ‘Karwa,’ to discuss avenues for industrial cooperation.

According to a statement released by the Ministry of Industry, the meeting focused on enhancing Algerian-Omani industrial collaboration and promoting joint investments in the production of buses and utility vehicles, including fire trucks and heavy-duty vehicles. The discussions centered around a mutually beneficial partnership approach.

Both parties expressed enthusiasm for projects that reflect the shared vision and directives of Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman, aimed at bolstering economic and industrial cooperation between the two countries. The Minister welcomed the proposed partnership, emphasizing Algeria’s commitment to establishing and localizing genuine industrial investments. He assured the Omani partner of the Ministry’s full support and facilitation to ensure the success of the collaboration.

The Omani side presented an overview of ‘Karwa’s’ advanced industrial and technological capabilities, highlighting its capacity to export to various global markets. They affirmed the company’s readiness to transfer its expertise to Algeria, with a focus on high integration rates and production standards that meet international benchmarks.

During the meeting, the Omani delegation extended a formal invitation to the Minister of Industry to visit ‘Karwa’s’ manufacturing facilities in Oman. This visit would allow the Minister to observe firsthand the modern industrial equipment and technologies that the company intends to implement in its future projects in Algeria.

This meeting underscores the strategic depth of the Algerian-Omani partnership and reaffirms the mutual commitment to supporting high-quality industrial cooperation.
