Khan Younis, Gaza – Israeli forces conducted airstrikes and artillery shelling near Khan Younis on Tuesday, marking a renewed violation of the Gaza ceasefire agreement. Palestinian media outlets reported that Israeli warplanes targeted areas east of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.
Sources indicated that a Palestinian individual was wounded following a drone strike in the Al-Zanna area of Abasan, east of Khan Younis. Alongside the aerial attacks, Israeli forces reportedly carried out artillery bombardment on the eastern parts of the city.
This incident follows a similar event on Monday, where two Palestinians were killed by an Israeli drone strike in Bani Suheila, also east of Khan Younis. Since the ceasefire agreement came into effect on October 10th, Israeli forces have been accused of numerous violations across the Gaza Strip, resulting in the deaths of at least 242 Palestinians and injuries to hundreds more. These violations allegedly include shelling areas from which Israeli forces were supposed to have withdrawn and demolishing residential buildings.
Meanwhile, efforts to transfer the remains of those killed from mass graves to official cemeteries in Gaza City are facing significant challenges. Civil defense teams, the Ministry of Health, and families of the deceased are struggling due to a lack of necessary equipment following Israeli excavation and destruction of several cemeteries.
Medical sources in Gaza have also reported that a considerable number of bodies recently returned by Israeli authorities as part of an exchange deal showed clear signs of mistreatment and torture. The committee managing the remains stated that initial examinations revealed evidence of tight hand restraints and blindfolding.
