Algiers – Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Mourad Ajal, chaired two separate meetings today in Algiers dedicated to evaluating the performance of key entities within the energy sector. The meetings focused on the National Agency for the Promotion and Rationalization of Energy Use (APRUE) and the Sonelgaz Group.
These meetings are part of a regular monitoring process aimed at improving the quality of public service across all regions of the country, according to a statement released by the ministry.
The first meeting centered on APRUE, where Minister Ajal reviewed the agency’s progress in promoting energy efficiency and the adoption of renewable energy sources. Discussions included strategies to enhance public awareness campaigns and support initiatives aimed at reducing energy consumption in residential, commercial, and industrial sectors.
The second meeting addressed the performance of Sonelgaz, the national electricity and gas company. Key topics included the reliability of electricity and gas supply networks, infrastructure development projects, and measures to improve customer service. Minister Ajal emphasized the importance of ensuring a stable and affordable energy supply for all citizens.
The Minister stressed the need for both APRUE and Sonelgaz to align their activities with the national energy strategy, which prioritizes the development of renewable energy sources and the rational use of energy resources. He also highlighted the importance of innovation and technological advancements in achieving these goals.
These evaluation meetings underscore the government’s commitment to enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the energy sector, ensuring its contribution to the country’s sustainable development goals.
