Fourth Player Withdraws from Algeria’s Training Camp

Algiers, November 12, 2025 – The Algerian national football team, known as Les Verts, has suffered another setback as goalkeeper Luca Zidane has been ruled out of the upcoming training camp due to injury.

The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) announced today that Zidane sustained a hamstring injury while playing for his club, Granada CF, in Spain. The injury will prevent him from participating in the two friendly matches scheduled against Zimbabwe and Saudi Arabia on November 13th and 18th, respectively.

According to a statement released by the FAF, national team coach Vladimir Petkovic has called up Zakaria Bouhalfaya, goalkeeper for CS Constantine, as a replacement for Zidane.

Zidane’s withdrawal marks the fourth player to be excused from the training camp due to injury. He joins Ramy Bensebaini, Fares Chaibi, and Mohamed Amine Tougai on the sidelines. These absences present a challenge for Petkovic as he prepares the team for the upcoming friendlies.

The team is currently preparing for the friendly against Zimbabwe, to be played on November 13th, followed by a match against Saudi Arabia on November 18th. The matches are seen as crucial preparation ahead of important upcoming international fixtures.
