Gaza: List of 1468 Prisoners Handed Over in Information Exchange

Palestinian factions in Gaza have received a list containing the names of 1468 prisoners held by Israeli authorities. The list was delivered through mediators as part of ongoing understandings related to the ceasefire agreement and information exchange between both sides. Negotiations for the agreement have been ongoing for over a month.

According to an official statement, Hamas has confirmed that relevant authorities within the resistance movement have reviewed the list and verified the provided data. However, the statement noted that the status of 11 names remains unconfirmed, and efforts are underway to determine their fate.

The Hamas statement alleges that delays and obstacles created by Israeli authorities have hindered the official announcement of the list. They accuse Israel of ‘procrastination and manipulation of the number of names provided’, which they view as a violation of existing understandings.

The statement firmly asserts that Israeli authorities bear full responsibility for the lives of all prisoners, and for any discrepancies or manipulation related to the list or exchanged information. Hamas claims that Israel is still forcibly concealing additional names and numbers of prisoners within its prisons, refusing to disclose them.

Hamas called upon mediators to exert pressure on Israel to reveal all detainees, improve their detention conditions, and guarantee their health and human rights. The group emphasized their continued efforts to uncover the fate of those not yet accounted for, and to end what they describe as ‘violations of international law’ against the prisoners. The situation remains tense as efforts continue to clarify the status of all prisoners and ensure their well-being.
