Algiers, November 17, 2025 – Siemens Energy is exploring potential investment opportunities in Algeria’s ambitious ‘Green Revolution’ initiative. This follows a meeting held earlier today between the Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, and a delegation from the German energy giant.
The Siemens Energy delegation was led by Dietmar Siersdorfer, Executive Vice President and General Manager for the Middle East and North Africa region. The meeting, held at the Ministry headquarters, focused on strengthening existing partnerships and exploring new avenues for collaboration.
Both parties acknowledged the strong relationship between Siemens Energy and Sonatrach, Algeria’s national oil company, highlighting the strategic partnership that has evolved over the years. Discussions centered on deepening cooperation within the oil and gas industry, energy equipment manufacturing, engineering services, and training programs aimed at developing local expertise and promoting national integration within projects.
Looking ahead, the talks addressed future collaboration opportunities related to the energy transition, specifically focusing on decarbonization, emissions reduction, green hydrogen development, and the modernization of Algeria’s energy infrastructure. Furthermore, the potential for investment in mining projects and seawater desalination initiatives was explored, recognizing their significance in Algeria’s industrial development strategy.
Minister Arkab emphasized the importance of expanding partnerships with Siemens Energy to facilitate knowledge transfer, enhance human capital, and jointly integrate advanced technologies into hydrocarbon and mining projects, particularly in areas such as energy management and advanced engineering.
Mr. Siersdorfer commended Algeria’s commitment to developing its hydrocarbon and mining sectors, expressing Siemens Energy’s readiness to support the country’s programs through innovative solutions and advanced technologies. He affirmed the company’s commitment to contributing to the implementation of strategic projects, particularly those related to decarbonization, the development of local industry, and human resource development. Siemens Energy aims to be a key partner in Algeria’s sustainable energy future.
