Prime Minister Opens National Skills Olympics in Oran

Oran, Algeria – Prime Minister Aymen Benabderrahmane presided over the opening ceremony of the inaugural National Skills Olympics (WorldSkills Algeria) in Oran, marking a significant step in the nation’s commitment to vocational training and skills development.

In his address, the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of the event, stating that it represents a pivotal moment for vocational training in Algeria. He emphasized that the competition, held under the patronage of the President of the Republic, underscores Algeria’s dedication to joining the ranks of leading nations in skills and professions.

“This event is not just a national competition; it is a message affirming Algeria’s strong determination to join the ranks of leading countries in the field of skills and professions,” the Prime Minister declared. He further emphasized the country’s commitment to achieving a qualitative leap in this sector at both the African and international levels, aligning with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s vision for comprehensive economic transformation driven by Algerian talent and skills.

The Prime Minister also noted that Algeria’s recent accession to WorldSkills Africa reflects the implementation of a comprehensive strategic vision aimed at developing the vocational training and education sector. He explained that this vision seeks to transform the sector into a genuine engine for economic and social development.

“Developing the mechanisms and institutions of vocational training has become a core priority of government action in recent years,” the Prime Minister stated, underlining the conviction that success in today’s world depends not only on theoretical knowledge but also on practical competence, creativity, innovation, and adapting to technological advancements.

The National Skills Olympics in Oran brings together talented young Algerians from across the country to compete in various vocational skills, showcasing their expertise and contributing to the advancement of Algeria’s workforce.
