Israeli Airstrike Kills One, Injures Others in Southern Lebanon

One person was killed and several others injured in an Israeli airstrike targeting a town in southern Lebanon on Wednesday. This incident occurred just hours after a separate incident in the Ain al-Hilweh refugee camp, which resulted in multiple fatalities.

According to the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health, the individual was killed and at least eleven others were wounded when an Israeli drone struck a vehicle traveling in front of a school bus in the town of Al-Tiri, located in the Bint Jbeil district.

The Lebanese National News Agency reported that the drone fired two missiles at the car. Tragically, a school bus was passing behind the targeted vehicle at the time of the attack, resulting in injuries to several students and the bus driver.

Earlier, on Tuesday evening, the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health reported that over a dozen people had been killed and others injured in an Israeli airstrike targeting the Ain al-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp near Sidon, in southern Lebanon. This incident represents the latest in a series of violations of the ceasefire in Lebanon.

The Lebanese National News Agency stated that the strike targeted the Khaled bin Al-Walid center, affiliated with the Khaled bin Al-Walid Mosque in the camp, with three missiles. A Lebanese security source confirmed that the Israeli airstrike completely destroyed a house and damaged several others within the camp.

The Israeli military claimed in a statement that it targeted members of Hamas and attacked what it described as terrorists operating in a training complex in southern Lebanon. The military further alleged that Hamas uses the complex to plan and execute terrorist plots against Israel.

Hamas has denied these allegations, stating that the bombing targeted an open sports field frequented by young people from the Ain al-Hilweh camp. Hamas also denied the presence of any military installations in the Palestinian camps in Lebanon.

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine in Lebanon also refuted the Israeli military’s claims of targeting military objectives, calling them lies to justify the attack.

Israel has been accused of repeatedly violating the ceasefire agreement signed in November 2024, resulting in numerous casualties. This agreement was intended to end the Israeli aggression against Lebanon that began in October 2023.
