Algiers, November 19, 2025 – Algeria’s recent vote on the international resolution concerning the peace plan in the Gaza Strip represents a purely sovereign decision, according to the People’s Voice Party. The party emphasized that the vote, which followed the introduction of key amendments and revisions to the final version of the resolution, stems from Algeria’s commitment to its international and regional responsibilities and its support for all efforts aimed at halting the aggression against Gaza.
In a statement released yesterday evening, the People’s Voice Party affirmed that Algeria has consistently strived to alleviate the humanitarian suffering of the Palestinian people and to advance a genuine path towards securing their full and inalienable rights, especially their right to establish an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
The party further asserted that this decision is a sovereign act, reflecting the unwavering positions and historical principles of the Algerian state. It is not subject to any calculations, regardless of their nature, and is based on considerations, balances, and dynamics within the new political reality, ensuring the rights of the Palestinian people, which Algeria consistently defends in all international forums.
The statement added that when Algeria votes, it does so in the name of its people, its history, and its loyalty to the struggles of the nation, and not under any pressure, compromise, or short-term interest.
The People’s Voice Party commended this diplomatic approach as responsible and carefully considered. The Party reiterated its full support for the foreign policy of the Algerian state, calling for continued efforts to protect the Palestinian people from the daily challenges they face.
The party also highlighted the necessity of strengthening international pressure to compel the Zionist occupation to cease its brutal aggression against a defenseless people and to pave the way for a genuine, serious, and responsible political process that effectively guarantees the full and undiminished rights of the brotherly Palestinian people, the statement concluded.
