Palestine Appeals to UN Over Israeli Violations in Occupied Territories

United Nations, New York – The State of Palestine has formally notified the United Nations of ongoing and severe violations perpetrated by Israel within the occupied Palestinian territories. Ambassador Riyad Mansour, Permanent Observer of the State of Palestine to the United Nations, dispatched three identical letters to the UN Secretary-General, the President of the Security Council for this month (Sierra Leone), and the President of the UN General Assembly, outlining the alleged breaches.

The letters detail concerns over what Palestine describes as flagrant violations of international law and the Gaza ceasefire agreement, which purportedly came into effect on October 10, 2025. Mansour warned of escalating incitement by extremist Israeli officials, allegedly promoting policies amounting to forced displacement, ethnic cleansing, and collective punishment. These actions, according to the Palestinian representative, undermine international efforts to solidify the ceasefire and implement Security Council resolutions, including the recognition of a Palestinian state.

Mansour emphasized the need for the international community to condemn these threats and hold Israeli war criminals accountable for their allegedly illegal, racist, and inhumane policies. He further alleged that Israel continues to impose severe restrictions on humanitarian aid entering Gaza, leaving hundreds of thousands of displaced civilians without adequate food, water, medicine, or shelter. This, he argued, constitutes a grave violation of the International Court of Justice’s provisional measures and Israel’s obligations under international humanitarian law. The letters state that at least 266 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since the ceasefire.

Furthermore, the letters highlight an increase in Israeli violence against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, over the past month. Specifically, the letters point to settler violence, alleging continued support and facilitation of settlement activities, arson attacks on homes and property (including the deliberate burning of a mosque near Deir Istiya), and daily violent assaults on Palestinians harvesting olives and on shepherds and their livestock. These acts, according to Mansour, represent serious violations of international law and blatant breaches of UN resolutions.

The Permanent Observer reiterated the State of Palestine’s call for international intervention to protect Palestinian civilians and ensure accountability for alleged Israeli actions.
