Algiers – The Algerian national football team, Les Fennecs, have retained their 35th position in the FIFA world rankings for November, according to the latest update released by the international football governing body on Wednesday. This ranking holds particular significance as the team prepares for upcoming international competitions.
Algeria’s consistent performance has allowed them to maintain their position as the fourth-highest-ranked team in Africa. This stability follows recent friendly match victories against Zimbabwe (3-1) and Saudi Arabia (2-0), played in Jeddah earlier this month.
Looking ahead, the FIFA rankings will be crucial as the draw for the 2026 World Cup finals approaches, scheduled for December 5th in Washington, D.C. Algeria has already qualified for the tournament, marking their fifth appearance on the world stage.
Globally, Spain continues to lead the rankings, followed by Argentina and France. England holds the fourth position, while Brazil has climbed to fifth place. Portugal, the Netherlands, Germany, and Croatia complete the top ten. Italy experienced a slight drop, moving from ninth to twelfth place.
The Algerian team, under the guidance of coach Vladimir Petkovic, is preparing for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) 2025, scheduled to take place from December 21st to January 18th, 2026. Algeria has been drawn into Group E, alongside Burkina Faso, Sudan, and Equatorial Guinea. Their campaign will begin on December 24th against Sudan.
DZWatch will continue to provide updates on the Algerian national team’s progress as they prepare for these important international tournaments.
