Gaza City – Hamas has strongly condemned what it describes as an Israeli “massacre” in Gaza and Khan Younis, labeling the recent escalation as a dangerous attempt by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to resume the “genocide” in the region. The organization released a statement Wednesday accusing Israel of war crimes and challenging claims of Hamas firing on Israeli forces.
“These are flimsy and transparent attempts to justify the occupation’s crimes,” the Hamas statement read, refuting alleged provocations. The group insists that Israeli violations of the ceasefire have persisted, with over 300 Palestinians killed since the agreement was signed. Hamas also cited the continued demolition of homes and the closure of the Rafah border crossing as evidence of Israel’s disregard for the terms of the truce.
Reports indicate that at least 28 Palestinians, including 17 children and women, have been killed in Israeli airstrikes on residential areas in Gaza City and Khan Younis since Wednesday morning. Over 77 others have been injured, according to local sources.
Hamas is calling on international mediators to intervene immediately. The organization specifically appealed to the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump to uphold its commitments and exert pressure on Israel to respect the ceasefire agreement.
The statement further urged mediators from Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey, as guarantors of the ceasefire, to fulfill their obligations and compel Israel to cease its violations. Hamas emphasized that these mediators must “force the criminal occupation to put an immediate end to its violations, which threaten the ceasefire.” The group maintains that Israel’s actions are a blatant challenge to both American and regional guarantees.
