Constantine, Algeria – President Abdelmadjid Tebboune today presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for a new sports complex in Constantine. The ambitious project aims to provide world-class sporting facilities for the region and boost Algeria’s capacity to host international events.
The centerpiece of the complex will be a 50,000-seat stadium. This includes a main football stadium with a capacity of 30,000 seats, alongside two dedicated training grounds. Integrated within the stadium structure will be a 60-room accommodation facility for athletes and officials.
Beyond football, the complex will feature a range of other sporting amenities. An Olympic-sized swimming pool, capable of accommodating 3,000 spectators, is included in the plans. A 2,000-seat multi-sports hall will cater to a variety of indoor athletic disciplines.
The project also encompasses three tennis courts, a helipad for convenient transportation, and extensive parking facilities with a capacity for 3,500 vehicles. To ensure optimal playing conditions, two natural turf farms will be established to supply the stadium and training grounds.
Furthermore, a dedicated energy hub will be integrated into the complex, reflecting a commitment to sustainable and efficient operations. The new sports complex represents a significant investment in Constantine’s infrastructure and its future as a sporting hub. The project is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy, creating jobs and attracting tourism.
Construction is slated to begin immediately, and authorities anticipate the complex will be completed in the near future. This project underscores the government’s commitment to developing sports infrastructure across Algeria.
