Constantine, Algeria – President Abdelmadjid Tebboune today inaugurated a new pharmaceutical manufacturing complex in Constantine, marking a significant step in the country’s efforts to bolster its domestic drug production capabilities. The inauguration took place during a working and inspection visit to the province.
The state-of-the-art facility specializes in the production of a range of essential medications, including inhalers for respiratory illnesses, ear, nose, and throat (ENT) medications, and soft gel capsules. Notably, the complex also features capabilities for producing oncology drugs, addressing a critical area of healthcare need.
During his visit, President Tebboune toured the various production units of the complex, which spans an area of 27,000 square meters. The facility is expected to generate over 500 new employment opportunities, contributing to the local economy and providing skilled jobs for the region’s workforce.
The President’s visit underscores the government’s commitment to strengthening Algeria’s pharmaceutical industry and reducing reliance on imports. This new complex represents a significant investment in healthcare infrastructure and aims to ensure a more secure and accessible supply of essential medicines for the Algerian population.
Earlier in the day, President Tebboune arrived in Constantine to commence his working visit, which includes the inauguration and inspection of several development and vital projects across the province. The focus remains on projects that will bring economic growth and prosperity to Constantine and its residents.
