Sonatrach Signals Readiness to Deepen Partnership with Naturgy

Algiers, November 20, 2025 – Algeria’s state-owned energy giant, Sonatrach, has expressed its willingness to strengthen its partnership with Spanish energy company, Naturgy. The announcement followed a high-level meeting held on Thursday at the Ministry of Energy and Mines.

The Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, received Francisco Reynés, the Chairman and CEO of Naturgy, in the presence of the Spanish Ambassador to Algeria, and the CEO of Sonatrach, Nordine Daoudi, along with senior ministry officials.

According to a statement released by the ministry, discussions centered on the current state and future prospects of cooperation between Sonatrach and Naturgy, particularly in the natural gas marketing sector. Both parties reaffirmed the importance of the strategic partnership that has bound them for many years.

The meeting also explored avenues to enhance this collaboration by expanding joint projects and identifying new investment opportunities within Algeria’s hydrocarbons sector. Cooperation in other areas of mutual interest was also addressed.

Minister Arkab emphasized the strength of the relationship between the two companies, underscoring Sonatrach’s commitment to deepening and developing the partnership with Naturgy, especially in vital sectors that offer mutual benefits. “We are ready to explore new avenues for collaboration that will benefit both Algeria and Spain,” the Minister stated.

Francisco Reynés expressed Naturgy’s pride in its long-standing and close relationship with Sonatrach. He affirmed Naturgy’s commitment to consolidating and expanding cooperation with its Algerian partner through the development of new projects in the oil and gas industry. This, he stated, would strengthen the interests of both parties and support the trajectory of energy cooperation between Algeria and Spain.

This renewed commitment signals a positive outlook for future energy collaborations between Algeria and Spain, solidifying their positions as key players in the global energy market.
