Gaza – The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) reported today that at least 67 children have been killed in Gaza since the implementation of the current ceasefire. The alarming figures highlight the devastating impact the conflict continues to have on the region’s youngest residents.
Speaking to reporters in Geneva, UNICEF spokesperson Ricardo Pires stated, “Dozens more have been injured. That means, on average, almost two children are being killed every single day since the ceasefire came into effect.”
The ongoing violence and instability in Gaza continue to pose a grave threat to the safety and well-being of children. UNICEF has repeatedly called for the protection of children in conflict zones, emphasizing that they should never be targets.
The situation remains dire, and the need for a lasting and comprehensive solution is more urgent than ever. The international community must prioritize the safety and security of children and work towards creating a peaceful environment where they can grow and thrive without fear of violence.
DZWatch will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as they become available. The organization urges all parties to adhere to international law and ensure the protection of civilians, especially children, in the ongoing conflict.
