Blida Drug Ring Dismantled, Massive Hallucinogen Cache Seized

Blida, Algeria – Authorities in Blida have successfully dismantled a criminal network involved in the illicit trafficking of psychotropic substances. The operation, conducted by the Wilaya Security Services, resulted in the arrest of six individuals.

Acting on intelligence regarding a planned transaction in a central Blida neighborhood, officers from the Judicial Police Intervention and Research Unit launched a targeted operation earlier this week. The operation led to the apprehension of a suspect in his twenties, caught red-handed while riding a motorcycle. A search of the motorcycle revealed a staggering 7,040 capsules of psychotropic drugs. 3,000 capsules were concealed within a bag, while the remaining 4,040 were found in the motorcycle’s rear storage compartment.

Following the initial arrest, and under the authority of search warrants issued by the Public Prosecutor’s Office, authorities extended their operation, leading to the capture of the remaining members of the criminal organization. In addition to the drugs, police seized 5.3 million Algerian dinars, believed to be proceeds from the sale of the narcotics. Investigators also confiscated a money counting machine, a packaging press, and three prohibited bladed weapons.

DZWatch understands that all suspects have been presented before the Blida Court Prosecutor’s Office. They face charges including possession, transportation, sale, and storage of psychotropic substances as part of an organized criminal group, money laundering within an organized criminal framework, and smuggling offenses that pose a serious threat to public health and the national economy. This successful operation marks a significant blow to drug trafficking operations in the Blida region.
