Heavy Snow and Rain Impact Several Algerian Provinces

November 22, 2025 – Several provinces across Algeria are experiencing significant weather disturbances today, with reports of heavy rainfall and snowfall affecting daily life. The National Meteorological Office has issued warnings regarding the ongoing adverse conditions.

Thunderstorms accompanied by substantial rainfall, exceeding 70mm in some areas, are expected to persist until midnight tonight. Provinces under this alert include Boumerdes, Tizi Ouzou, Setif, Bejaia, Jijel, Skikda, Annaba, and El Tarf. Residents in these regions are advised to take necessary precautions and avoid unnecessary travel.

A special weather bulletin also indicates continued heavy snowfall, with accumulations reaching up to 20cm in mountainous areas above 900 meters. This heavy snowfall is expected to continue until 3:00 PM today, impacting the provinces of Bouira, Boumerdes, Tizi Ouzou, Bejaia, Jijel, Setif, and Bordj Bou Arreridj.

Furthermore, provinces including Skikda, Mila, Constantine, Guelma, Souk Ahras, Oum El Bouaghi, Batna, and Khenchela are also bracing for heavy snowfall. Accumulations of up to 10cm are anticipated in elevated areas exceeding 900 meters, with these conditions expected to last until midday today.

An additional bulletin warns of continued snowfall of up to 10cm in areas above 1000 meters until 9:00 AM this morning.
