The Algerian national handball team begins a short preparatory training camp in Algiers today, in anticipation of the 2026 Africa Cup of Nations.
Head Coach Saleh Bouchkriou has announced a squad of 18 players for the camp. A majority of the selected players hail from the domestic league. The only exception is Ayoub Benkaddour, who plays professionally for Naft Al-Basra in Iraq.
According to a statement released by the Algerian Handball Federation, the training camp is designed to strengthen team cohesion, refine tactical strategies, and elevate the overall performance level of the squad as they prepare for the continental tournament.
The 27th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations is scheduled to take place in Rwanda from January 21st to 31st, 2026. The draw has placed Algeria in a group alongside the host nation Rwanda, as well as Nigeria and Zambia.
