Hajj Lottery Conducted Nationwide to Select Pilgrims for 2026

Algiers, Algeria – Across Algeria, municipalities held the annual lottery this Saturday to determine the final list of individuals selected to perform the Hajj pilgrimage for the upcoming season (1447 AH/2026 AD).

The lottery process took place at municipal headquarters and designated halls throughout the country. Local authorities oversaw the proceedings, which were attended by prospective pilgrims and their families eager to witness the outcome.

The Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transportation previously announced the registration period for the Hajj season (1447 AH/2026 AD), which ran from October 8th to November 6th. During this period, citizens wishing to participate in the lottery registered at their local municipality.

The Ministry has stipulated that citizens who do not possess a biometric passport but wish to register must pledge to obtain one within thirty (30) days of winning the lottery. Failure to acquire a biometric passport within this timeframe will result in removal from the list of selected pilgrims.

The government is yet to announce the total number of pilgrims to be selected in this year’s lottery. Further details regarding travel arrangements and other logistical matters are expected to be released in the coming weeks. DZWatch will continue to provide updates as they become available.
