The Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities, and Urban Planning has announced a substantial allocation of funds to support the municipality of Sidi Aissa in Msila province. Minister Said Saayoud revealed that a total of 445 million dinars has been earmarked to address the impact of recent severe weather conditions.
Speaking during a meeting with civil society representatives in Sidi Aissa, Minister Saayoud stated that the funding, drawn from the Local Authorities Guarantee and Solidarity Fund, will be divided into two key projects. The larger portion, 423 million dinars, will be dedicated to urban redevelopment and repair works in neighborhoods and roads damaged by floods within the Sidi Aissa municipality. This initiative aims to restore infrastructure and improve living conditions for residents affected by the adverse weather.
An additional 22 million dinars has been allocated for a comprehensive study focused on flood protection measures for nine cities across Msila province. The study will encompass the municipalities of Msila, Bou Saada, Sidi Aissa, Ain El Hadjel, Ain El Melh, Barhoum, Ain El Khadra, M’Sif, and Ouled Derradj. This proactive approach seeks to identify and mitigate future flood risks in these vulnerable areas.
Minister Saayoud emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting citizens in all circumstances and responding promptly to their concerns. He highlighted that these measures reflect the President’s vision of prioritizing citizen welfare and ensuring effective local governance. He also noted that development projects should not merely be expenditures of public funds, but rather contribute to local planning and economic development.
Furthermore, the Minister stressed the importance of developing an urgent plan for urban development and rehabilitation for Sidi Aissa and other cities in the province. This plan should be based on thorough studies and implemented with strict monitoring to ensure adherence to quality standards and deadlines.
