Washington is reportedly increasing pressure on Kyiv to consider a peace plan for the ongoing conflict with Russia. This comes as Ukrainian officials announce upcoming consultations with the United States in Switzerland.
According to sources, the US administration, led by President Trump, is urging Ukraine to accept a proposed framework for ending the nearly four-year war. Concerns are rising within NATO about the potential consequences of prolonged conflict.
President Zelenskyy has voiced reservations about the proposed plan, stating that Ukraine risks losing either its dignity or its most important allies. He indicated his intention to present alternative proposals to Washington.
European officials have reportedly expressed discontent with certain aspects of the American plan, fearing it could undermine their efforts to support Ukraine. The proposed framework reportedly involves territorial concessions by Ukraine in the Donets’k and Luhansk regions, potentially leading to Russia’s re-entry into the Group of Eight (G8).
Rustem Umerov, head of Ukraine’s National Security Council, announced that Kyiv will hold consultations with the United States in Switzerland to discuss potential parameters for a future peace agreement. These talks aim to address the complex issues surrounding a resolution to the conflict.
“We are entering this path with a clear understanding of our interests,” Umerov stated, highlighting Ukraine’s commitment to finding a viable and sustainable solution.
The situation remains fluid, with significant diplomatic activity aimed at de-escalating the conflict and achieving a lasting peace.
