Algeria Strengthens Health Surveillance Measures to Safeguard Public Well-being

The Ministry of Health has announced the activation of the health surveillance system in coordination with various relevant authorities through the issuance of a memorandum that includes a series of preventive measures.

The activation of the surveillance system, according to the Ministry of Health’s statement, aims to prevent the spread of any epidemiological development or other harm caused by harmful insects such as bedbugs, which can pose a threat to public health, especially at entry points.

These measures include health monitoring of airplanes, ships, and land transportation means, as well as disinfection in the presence of a significant announcement from the Ministry of Health regarding bedbugs. Health surveillance centers’ staff have been instructed to enhance epidemiological surveillance, regularly maintain and monitor the cleanliness of airports, ports, and land sites, monitor the disinfection of suspicious luggage and cargo that may contain harmful insects, provide travelers with health information, and finally, maintain close and continuous cooperation and coordination with all sectors operating at air, sea, and land entry points.

The Ministry of Health emphasizes the strict implementation of these measures while ensuring that the General Directorate of Health Protection and Promotion is informed of any restrictions that may be encountered in implementing the directives outlined in the memorandum.
