Italian Magazine Highlights Algeria’s Economic Transformation

Algiers – An Italian magazine has dedicated its latest issue to the economic prospects of Algeria, spotlighting the accelerated pace of economic diversification and the growing interest of Italian companies in the opportunities available in the Algerian market.

Italian Economic Diplomacy, a publication of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, focused on Algeria’s evolving economic landscape, emphasizing the deepening Algerian-Italian relations.

Under the title ‘Algeria: Prospects and Opportunities Beyond Hydrocarbons,’ the magazine underscored the strong Algerian-Italian ties, rooted in shared historical and cultural bonds, as well as geographical proximity, making Algeria a natural economic partner for Italy.

The publication highlighted that the new vision for cooperation relies on expanding partnerships into non-traditional economic sectors, aligning with the ongoing transformations in the Algerian economy. It also emphasized the tangible progress Algeria has made in infrastructure and human development, thanks to investment programs and social policies adopted by the state in recent years.

The magazine noted the increasing attractiveness of the Algerian market, particularly for small and medium-sized Italian enterprises, in sectors such as agriculture, renewable energy, food processing, mechanics, automotive manufacturing, and pharmaceuticals.

According to the Italian publication, Algeria possesses ‘strong attractive factors,’ including low energy costs, availability of raw materials, and a skilled workforce due to the large number of universities and training centers, in addition to its strategic location near sub-Saharan African markets.

Referring to the ‘Mattei Plan,’ for which Algeria is a pivotal country for Italy in Africa, the magazine pointed out the significant potential offered by the agricultural sector, especially in the southern regions with desert climates, to achieve food security and increase exports beyond the hydrocarbon sector. The magazine also presented broad opportunities in the fields of construction, iron and steel, automotive manufacturing, and renewable energies.
