Algiers, November 23, 2025 – Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, Kamal Zeraik, received a delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) today in Algiers. The delegation was led by Charalambos Tsangarides, according to a statement released by the Ministry.
The meeting, held at the Ministry headquarters and attended by senior officials, centered on the annual consultations between the IMF and Algeria. Discussions focused on mechanisms to support exports and strengthen Algeria’s position in global markets.
Minister Zeraik outlined key initiatives undertaken by the Ministry to enhance the competitiveness of Algerian products, streamline export procedures, and provide support to exporters and investors. He emphasized Algeria’s commitment to diversifying its partners and markets, opening new avenues for international trade cooperation.
The Minister also highlighted the Ministry’s efforts in digitizing export and import procedures to simplify operations, accelerate transactions, and improve the business climate. He noted the creation of specialized bodies dedicated to exports and imports, designed to assist investors engaged in foreign trade activities.
Furthermore, Minister Zeraik addressed measures adopted to regulate import operations, ensuring a balanced and sustainable trade environment. The talks underscore Algeria’s ongoing engagement with international financial institutions and its commitment to economic reform and diversification.
