Algeria continues to prioritize its investment in tourism development, with a strong focus on expanding its presence in international trade fairs to promote Algeria as a prime tourist destination. Saliha Nacerbay, the Director General of the Algerian National Tourism Office (Ont), emphasized this commitment during the 22nd Tourism Fair, known as Sitev, recently held in Algiers.

“We aim to unveil the extraordinary diversity of our destination, offering visitors the opportunity to experience all four seasons during their stay. To capture new markets and showcase the richness of our offerings, diversification is essential,” stated Nacerbay.

Regarding the Italian market, the Director stressed its paramount importance, stating, “Italy holds a special place in our tourism strategy, and we have never overlooked it. Italian travelers exhibit loyalty and a keen interest in our cultural treasures, including the various Roman remnants such as Djemila, Timgad, Setif, Batna, and Tipasa. There is also considerable enthusiasm for exploring alternative forms of tourism in the unique southern regions of Algeria.”

Sitev, organized under the auspices of the Algerian Ministry of Tourism and Handicrafts, stands out as the largest event of its kind in North Africa and Africa in terms of both participant numbers and quality. On this occasion, a delegation of journalists from approximately 10 countries was invited to attend the fair. In addition to their participation in the fair, they embarked on a fam trip organized by Onat and the Ministry of Tourism, with stops in Algiers, Ghardaia, El Golea, and Timimoun, further showcasing Algeria’s diverse tourist attractions.
