Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – Algeria and Saudi Arabia are deepening their collaboration in the crucial sectors of hydrocarbons and mining. Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, met with Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Energy, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, on Monday to discuss ways to elevate bilateral cooperation.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 21st General Conference of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), currently being held in Riyadh from November 23rd to 27th, 2025.
According to a statement released by the Algerian ministry, both parties reaffirmed the strong historical ties between Algeria and Saudi Arabia. They expressed a shared desire to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the fields of hydrocarbons and mining. The ministers explored promising opportunities for collaboration in hydrocarbon exploration and development, the petrochemical industry, and the development of clean hydrogen.
Both Arkab and Prince Abdulaziz emphasized the importance of fostering industrial and investment partnerships between Algerian and Saudi Arabian entities. This includes partnerships between Sonatrach on the Algerian side, and Aramco and Acwa Power Group, among others, on the Saudi side.
Arkab highlighted Algeria’s commitment to implementing tangible energy transition projects focused on reducing the carbon footprint in the oil and gas industry. This initiative aligns with global efforts to promote sustainable energy practices.
The ministers expressed their satisfaction with the positive developments in the global market, attributing them to the ongoing efforts within the framework of OPEC and the OPEC+ alliance. They reaffirmed their countries’ full commitment to implementing agreements within OPEC+ to ensure market stability. They further called for continued dialogue and coordination among all producers to maintain market balance and secure long-term investments.
The discussions represent a significant step towards strengthening economic ties between the two nations and ensuring a stable and sustainable energy future.
