Algiers, November 24, 2025 – Prime Minister Sifi Ghrib presided over a government meeting today to examine several important national files. The meeting focused on advancing the nation’s digital transformation and infrastructure development.
The government reviewed a draft executive decree outlining the conditions and procedures for approving electronic communications equipment. This decree is part of the implementation of Law No. 18-04, dated May 10, 2018, which defines the general rules for postal and telecommunications services. The aim is to ensure that electronic communications equipment meets applicable standards and specifications, particularly regarding user safety and health, the protection of electronic communication networks, and interoperability.
Furthermore, the government initiated a review of a draft presidential decree concerning the national data governance system. This initiative aligns with the President’s instructions regarding the national digital transformation strategy, specifically concerning the interconnection of various public bodies and administrations and the creation of a national digital database. The decree establishes a clear, comprehensive, and practical legal framework for the national data governance system. It enshrines state sovereignty over data of national interest and ensures organized, secure, and transparent management of public data.
Finally, as part of the ongoing monitoring of major structural investment projects, the government received a presentation on the progress of railway construction programs. These include the western and eastern mining railway projects, connecting Bechar and Tindouf over a distance of 575 km as part of the Gara Djebilet project, and connecting Annaba and Djebel El Anq in Tebessa over a distance of 422 km as part of the integrated phosphate project. These projects are seen as vital to the nation’s economic future.
