Italian Ambassador Visits Béjaïa, Emphasizes Bilateral Partnership

The Italian Ambassador to Algeria, Giovanni Polizzi, conducted a visit to the city of Béjaïa on Thursday. According to the Italian news agency, the visit’s agenda primarily included a meeting with the Wali (Governor) of Béjaïa, Kamal Eddine Kharroub, to review key bilateral issues, highlighting the excellence of the Algerian-Italian partnership, with particular attention to infrastructure.

Governor Kharroub highlighted new opportunities linked to the opening of a new industrial zone in the province and the recent inauguration of a connection between the expressway and the capital, Algiers, to facilitate multimodal transport.

On the sidelines of the visit, the Italian Ambassador inaugurated a temporary visa application center in Béjaïa, marking the 8th such center in Algeria. According to the Italian news agency, this reaffirms Italy as the country providing the most widely distributed consular services in Algeria.

The visit concluded with a stop at the University of Béjaïa, where, along with the university president Boualem Saidani, new forms of collaboration were discussed to enhance academic training, bilateral exchange programs, and the teaching of the Italian language in the region.
