QUNEITRA, SYRIA – Israeli forces conducted incursions into two villages in the northern Quneitra countryside of southern Syria on Monday, according to reports from the region. This marks the latest in a series of escalating incidents that have raised concerns about regional stability.
Reports indicate that a contingent of five Israeli military vehicles entered the area near the village of al-Samdaniyah al-Sharqiyah and proceeded towards Tell Krum Jabba, located in the northern Quneitra governorate. The nature and purpose of the incursion remain unclear.
This incident follows a similar incursion on Sunday, where Israeli forces reportedly entered the area between the town of Jabatha al-Khashab and the villages of Ufania and Ain al-Bayda, also in the northern Quneitra countryside. Furthermore, a checkpoint was allegedly established on the road connecting the town of Umm Batna and the village of al-Ajraf in the southern Quneitra countryside, causing disruptions to civilian traffic.
The increased activity of Israeli forces within Syrian territory over the past year has been a source of considerable tension. Critics argue that these actions constitute a violation of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement and relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions. The alleged violations include incursions, arrests, search operations, and raids.
The situation in southern Syria remains volatile, and these recent events are likely to further exacerbate existing tensions in the region. DZWatch will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
