Gaza: Casualties Mount Amidst Storms & Ceasefire Violations

Gaza City, DZWatch – Renewed violence and harsh weather conditions are compounding the suffering of civilians in the Gaza Strip. Israeli forces reported killing multiple militants in Rafah and near the northern border, while medical sources confirmed the death of a Palestinian east of Khan Younis. Airstrikes and drone fire have also been reported in various locations, resulting in further casualties.

Civil Defense teams have recovered the remains of numerous individuals from under the rubble of destroyed buildings, highlighting the ongoing devastation. The Ministry of Health in Gaza reports a staggering number of fatalities and injuries since the escalation of conflict began, describing the situation as one of the most severe periods of destruction in the region’s history.

Humanitarian Crisis Deepens

Adding to the dire situation, a severe weather system has swept through Gaza, inundating makeshift shelters housing displaced families. Reports indicate that tents have been flooded, destroying essential supplies and leaving residents exposed to the elements. Local authorities are struggling to cope with limited resources, while international organizations are being urged to provide immediate assistance.

The Government Media Office warns that a vast majority of existing tents are damaged and unsuitable for habitation, raising concerns about an impending humanitarian catastrophe. The ongoing restrictions on the entry of vital supplies, including tents and essential aid, are exacerbating the crisis.

Ceasefire Violations Alleged

Accusations of ceasefire violations continue to surface. International organizations are claiming that the Israeli occupation has violated the ceasefire numerous times, alleging that the ‘genocide has not stopped’. Government and human rights bodies in Gaza have documented dozens of breaches, further fueling tensions and undermining efforts to establish a lasting peace.
