Algeria and Egypt are set to strengthen their cooperation and partnership, aiming to elevate it to a level befitting the shared history of both nations. This commitment reflects the strong will to enhance relations expressed by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
Speaking at the opening of the 9th session of the Algerian-Egyptian Joint Higher Committee, the Prime Minister emphasized that the leaders’ dedication has facilitated progress in bolstering cooperation and partnership. It has also laid the groundwork for a sustainable, strategic approach, aimed at increasing integration between the two countries and serving the interests and aspirations of their people for greater collaboration.
The Prime Minister highlighted the robust economic history of exemplary cooperation and successful partnerships between Algeria and Egypt in various sectors, including energy, trade, and investment. Recent years have witnessed the realization of numerous joint investment projects in the energy and petrochemical sectors, such as nitrogen fertilizers in Oran, electrical cables in Ain Defla, and the pharmaceutical industry in Algiers. Promising projects are also underway in construction, public works, services, and agriculture.
Notably, some of these companies have begun exporting their products, making Egypt one of Algeria’s largest economic partners in trade and investment.
The energy sector remains a cornerstone of cooperation between the two countries. Sonatrach and Petrojet have signed a protocol to establish a joint venture for manufacturing equipment in the gas and oil sector, as well as developing the Hassi Bir Rekaiz field in Algeria. As gas producers with significant capabilities in liquefying and exporting liquefied natural gas, both nations should enhance coordination and consultation to maximize the exploitation of this vital resource and defend their interests amid global developments.
The Prime Minister concluded by stressing the need to amplify the results of the partnership, especially given the new investment law in Algeria. This law provides facilities and incentives to attract direct investment and increase its flow, thereby strengthening the economic standing of both countries and fortifying bilateral cooperation.
This deepened partnership signals a new era of economic integration and strategic alignment between Algeria and Egypt.
