Algeria and Egypt have solidified their strategic partnership through a series of agreements signed during the ninth session of the Joint Higher Committee. The signing ceremony, overseen by the Algerian Prime Minister and his Egyptian counterpart, resulted in numerous memoranda of understanding and cooperation programs spanning diverse sectors, signaling a deepened commitment between the two nations.
According to a statement from the Algerian Prime Minister’s office, the agreements cover key areas including internal affairs, finance, energy, industry, trade, housing, higher education, vocational training, youth, sports, and solidarity. These collaborations aim to foster greater cooperation and mutual benefit across various facets of Algerian and Egyptian society.
The signed agreements include:
- A memorandum of understanding between the Algerian Accreditation Body and the Egyptian National Accreditation Council.
- A memorandum of understanding between the governments of Algeria and Egypt focusing on housing, urban development, and city modernization.
- A memorandum of understanding between the National Higher School of Agronomic Engineering of Algeria and the Agricultural Research Center of Egypt.
- A memorandum of understanding between Ahmed Draia University of Adrar, Algeria, and Al-Azhar University of Egypt.
- A memorandum of understanding between the Algerian Ministry of Relations with Parliament and the Egyptian Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Legal Affairs, and Political Communication.
- An executive program between the Algerian Ministry of Youth and the Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports for cooperation in the field of youth for the years 2026-2027.
- An executive program for cooperation between the Algerian Ministry of Sports and the Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports in the field of sports for the years 2026-2027.
- An executive program for cooperation in the field of culture between the Algerian Ministry of Culture and Arts and the Egyptian Ministry of Culture for the years 2025-2028.
- A memorandum of understanding between the Algiers Opera and the National Cultural Center at the Egyptian Opera House.
- A memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of archives between the Directorate General of National Archives of Algeria and Egypt.
These agreements underscore the commitment of both Algeria and Egypt to strengthening bilateral relations and fostering collaboration across vital sectors. The initiatives are expected to contribute significantly to the economic and social development of both nations.
