Arab Media Ministers Reaffirm Support for Palestinian Cause

Cairo, Egypt – Arab Ministers of Information have reiterated their unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, emphasizing the need for continued assistance across political, humanitarian, and legal dimensions, with a particular focus on the status of occupied Jerusalem.

Concluding their 55th session in Cairo on Wednesday, the Council of Arab Information Ministers urged Arab media outlets to maintain comprehensive coverage of ongoing developments, highlighting persistent violations of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and escalating infringements in the West Bank. The council strongly condemned the targeting of Palestinian journalists by the Zionist army, denouncing these actions as blatant violations of international and humanitarian law.

The Council formally adopted the Arab Strategy for Media and Information Literacy, along with the Unified Arab Plan for Addressing Environmental Issues and Sustainable Development. These initiatives align with the Arab Vision 2045, previously endorsed at the 34th Arab Summit held in Baghdad in May 2025.

Regarding the Arab Media Action Plan abroad, the Council underscored the critical need for meticulous and integrated implementation of its mechanisms and components. Key priorities include providing robust media support for the Palestinian cause, actively countering Zionist narratives, and effectively combating extremism and terrorism.

On the sidelines of the session, the Secretary-General of the Arab League honored Ahmed Najeeb Assaf, the Palestinian Minister of Information and Supervisor General of the Palestinian Broadcasting Corporation. This gesture served as a symbol of solidarity with Palestinian media, acknowledging the challenges and violations they face under occupation. The recognition underscores the ongoing commitment of Arab nations to supporting Palestinian voices and advocating for their rights on the international stage.
