India Offers Infrastructure Development Expertise to Algeria

Algiers – India has offered its services to assist Algeria in developing its infrastructure, particularly in the energy and mining sectors. The offer was made during a meeting between the Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Petroleum and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, and the Indian Ambassador to Algeria, Swati Vijay Kulkarni, held at the ministry headquarters on Wednesday.

During the meeting, both parties discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Algeria and India, emphasizing the deep and strong historical ties that bind the two nations. The discussions focused on opportunities for investment in Algeria’s energy and mining sectors, including exploration and production, petrochemicals, energy infrastructure development, engineering, and the manufacturing of oil and gas equipment, as well as the marketing of oil, gas, and refined products.

The potential for collaboration in the production and processing of phosphates, as well as the manufacturing of phosphate and nitrogen fertilizers, was also highlighted as an area of mutual interest. Algeria is actively seeking to diversify its economy and sees India as a key partner in achieving this goal.

Ambassador Kulkarni expressed the interest of Indian companies in the Algerian market and their readiness to contribute to the development of ongoing and future projects in the hydrocarbons, oil and gas, and fertilizer production sectors. She reiterated India’s desire to elevate cooperation to higher levels, serving the mutual interests of both countries.

The discussions signal a potential increase in Indian investment and involvement in Algeria’s key industries, further solidifying the economic partnership between the two nations. The Algerian government views this collaboration as crucial for its long-term development plans and aims to leverage Indian expertise to modernize its infrastructure and boost its industrial capacity.
