Timimoun, Algeria – Minister of Tourism and Traditional Industry, Houria Meddahi, conducted an inspection of the final preparations for the International Desert Tourism Festival in Timimoun on Wednesday evening. The seventh edition of the festival is scheduled to take place from December 4th to 8th of this year.
According to ministry officials, the visit aimed to assess the readiness of all facilities and ensure the successful execution of this important international event. The festival is designed to promote Algeria’s desert tourism potential on both the international and continental stages, showcasing its immense capabilities.
During her tour of various hotel facilities and infrastructure, Minister Meddahi expressed her satisfaction with Timimoun’s readiness to host the event. She commended the efforts of local authorities and the organizing teams for their diligent preparation of this significant international festival.
Accompanied by local authorities, Meddahi also inspected reception and rest centers, including the Gourara Hotel, Djenane Malik, and Dar El Hakim. Furthermore, she reviewed the spaces designated for artisan exhibitions, conference and cinema halls, and the open-air theater, where seminars and meetings will be held alongside the festival. Public squares for artistic and folkloric performances were also examined.
At the conclusion of the visit, the Minister held a working session with the event’s organizing committee, which includes the executive body of the state, at the state headquarters’ meeting room.
The Minister emphasized the importance of giving the event the prominence it deserves, as it falls within the framework of highlighting Algeria’s immense tourism potential and cultural diversity, particularly in the south. The ultimate goal is to enhance the attractiveness of desert tourism to achieve sustainable development.
