Significant road closures have been reported across several Algerian provinces due to heavy snowfall. The affected areas are primarily in the mountainous regions, where persistent snowfall throughout the day has severely disrupted transportation.
According to reports, the National Road 33 is closed between the provinces of Bouira and Tizi Ouzou, specifically in the areas of Tikjda (Asnames municipality) and Akouker (Bechloul municipality). The National Road 30, connecting Saharidj (Bouira) and Ouacif (Tizi Ouzou) at Tizi N’Koulen, is also impassable due to the snow.
Furthermore, traffic is halted on National Road 15, which links Bouira and Tizi Ouzou, at the level of Col Tirourda in the Aghbalou municipality. In Tizi Ouzou province itself, National Road 33 is blocked between Boumahdi and Asoul, while National Road 15 is closed at the Tirourda pass in Ifrahounane.
The Wilaya Road 253, connecting Tizi Ouzou and Bejaia, is also affected, with the Chleta pass in Illilten being closed. In Bejaia province, National Road 26, linking Bejaia and Tizi Ouzou, is blocked at the Chleta pass in Chellata.
The province of Setif has also experienced road closures. Wilaya Road 137A, connecting El Babour and Oued El Bared, is closed, as is Wilaya Road 151A between Ain Erroua and Zaouia Sidi Hassan, due to the accumulated snow.
Authorities are advising travelers to avoid these routes and to stay informed about the evolving situation. Motorists are urged to exercise extreme caution if travel is absolutely necessary. Updates will be provided as the situation changes.
