Citizen Safety Top Priority, Says Interior Minister

Algiers, November 27, 2025 – The protection of citizens and their property, both public and private, remains a paramount priority for Algerian authorities. This statement was emphasized by the Minister of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transportation, Said Saayoud, during a national guidance meeting for National Security personnel held at the Higher Police School in the capital today.

Minister Saayoud stressed that current security challenges demand constant readiness and vigilance from all branches of the National Security forces. He stated that the meeting aimed to "enhance field coordination and improve the effectiveness of security performance across the country’s various provinces."

He further elaborated that internal and external security challenges necessitate continued efforts to combat various forms of crime, including organized crime, drug trafficking, smuggling, and illegal immigration. He also emphasized that the development of training and professional advancement for police officers is a key focus for increasing efficiency and enhancing the ability to face security challenges.
