IDF Conducts Raids in West Bank Amidst Allegations of Extrajudicial Killings

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have reportedly conducted extensive military operations in the northern West Bank over the past two days, sparking allegations of extrajudicial killings of young Palestinian men. According to reports, over 200 raids, arrests, searches, and detentions have been carried out.

The operations have been concentrated in areas including Tubas, the al-Far’a refugee camp, Tamun, Tayasir, and Aqaba. Sources indicate that some homes have been transformed into military outposts, with residents forcibly displaced.

Eyewitness accounts suggest that many of the targeted homes belong to families of prisoners or those killed by Israeli forces. The IDF claims that the operations target locations used by Palestinian militants to launch attacks. However, Palestinians contend that the actions are retaliatory and lack legitimate security justification, particularly as they include the arrest of previously released prisoners.

Reports indicate that Israeli helicopters fired machine guns on Tubas, a move described as unprecedented. The air force and engineering units were allegedly deployed without clear justification. While approximately 60 Palestinians have been released out of at least 120 detained in the past two days, sources claim those detained were subjected to abuse, threats, and violence, with their families also targeted and homes damaged.

Tubas, a city of 70,000 Palestinians, is reportedly under siege, with movement restricted by checkpoints and security patrols. Those violating the imposed curfew, including journalists, are allegedly being arrested. The Palestinian Red Crescent Society’s attempt to hold a press conference regarding casualties was reportedly disrupted by Israeli forces, who allegedly pursued and arrested attendees, including journalists.

In Jenin, Israeli forces reportedly surrounded a house in the Jabal Abu Dhaher neighborhood. Witnesses claim that two Palestinian men surrendered to Israeli forces but were then forced back into the building from which they emerged, raising concerns about their fate. DZWatch is closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as they become available.
