DAMASCUS, SYRIA – At least ten people have been killed and dozens more injured following an Israeli military action targeting the Beit Jinn area in rural Damascus early this morning.
Initial reports indicate that the strike resulted in significant casualties. Six bodies were transported to Al-Mowasat Hospital in Damascus, while four were buried in Beit Jinn due to the initial inaccessibility of the area following the incursion.
Health officials confirmed that eleven injured individuals were admitted to Al-Mowasat Hospital and three to Qatana Hospital in rural Damascus. Some of the wounded are in critical condition and require immediate surgical intervention. Paramedics and the Syrian Civil Defense provided first aid to those whose injuries did not necessitate hospitalization. Medical facilities in the region, including the Al-Haramon and Sa’sa’ centers, as well as the Golan National Hospital, have been activated to provide necessary medical care.
The Israeli military reportedly entered the town of Beit Jinn earlier today, leading to the casualties. Eyewitness accounts suggest that three individuals were detained before the forces withdrew. Local residents confronted the invading forces, who responded with heavy gunfire. Israeli aircraft were seen flying over the area. The events have triggered a displacement of residents to neighboring towns and villages.
This is a developing story. DZWatch will continue to provide updates as they become available.
