Gaza Death Toll Surpasses 70,000 Amid Renewed Israeli Strikes

Gaza’s healthcare system is overwhelmed as the death toll since the start of the Israeli offensive has surpassed 70,000, according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza. Despite ongoing ceasefire efforts, reports indicate that Israeli forces have continued to bombard areas in Rafah and Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip.

The Ministry of Health’s latest report, released today, states that the total number of fatalities has reached 70,100, with 170,983 injuries recorded since October 7, 2023. The report also includes the addition of 299 previously uncounted deaths that have been verified between November 21, 2025, and November 28, 2025.

Since the ceasefire began on October 10th, 354 Palestinians have been killed and 906 wounded, according to ministry data. Additionally, the bodies of 606 deceased individuals have been recovered.

Reports also indicate renewed Israeli military activity within Gaza. Sources on the ground claim that Israeli forces continue to target Palestinian areas and conduct demolition operations near the ‘yellow line’ demarcation. Specifically, residential buildings east of Gaza City are reported to have been destroyed.

A medical source at Nasser Hospital confirmed the deaths of two children in Bani Suheila, east of Khan Younis, earlier today. Witnesses reported heavy fire from Israeli helicopters in the area, followed by artillery shelling.

The Israeli military claims to have killed three armed individuals attempting to cross the ‘yellow line’ in southern Gaza, alleging they posed an immediate threat to Israeli forces.

Hamas has condemned the ongoing military operations, stating that Israeli forces have intensified aerial, naval, and ground bombardments, particularly at night, and continue to demolish buildings in a sustained assault on the Gaza Strip. The group asserted that the killing of the two children this morning underscores that the war continues unabated and that the nature of the attacks has simply shifted. Hamas called on mediators, guarantor states, and parties involved in previous Sharm el-Sheikh discussions to intervene and ensure a complete cessation of hostilities.
