Gaza Death Toll Soars Past 70,000 Amid Renewed Shelling

The death toll in Gaza has tragically surpassed 70,000 since the beginning of the Israeli offensive, according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza. Despite ongoing ceasefire negotiations, reports indicate continued Israeli military activity in Rafah and Khan Younis, located in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.

A recent Ministry of Health report detailed the devastating impact of the conflict, stating that the total number of fatalities has reached 70,100, with 170,983 injuries recorded since October 7, 2023. The report also noted that 299 additional deaths, with verified data, have been added to the cumulative count between November 21, 2025, and November 28, 2025.

Since the ceasefire was implemented on October 10th, at least 354 Palestinians have been killed and 906 wounded, according to ministry data. Furthermore, the remains of 606 individuals have been recovered.

Reports indicate that Israeli forces continue to target Palestinian areas. Witnesses have described instances of residential buildings being demolished east of Gaza City. Tragically, two children were reportedly killed in Bani Suheila, east of Khan Younis, on Saturday. Initial reports suggest Israeli helicopters opened fire on the area prior to artillery shelling.

The Israeli military claims to have killed three armed individuals who allegedly crossed the demarcation line south of the Gaza Strip, asserting they posed an immediate threat to their forces.

In response to these escalating events, Hamas issued a statement condemning the ongoing Israeli military operations. The group asserted that the Israeli army is intensifying aerial, naval, and ground attacks, alongside the continued demolition of buildings. Hamas emphasized that the reported killing of two children on Saturday demonstrates that the offensive against the people of Gaza continues unabated. The group called upon mediators, guarantor states, and parties involved in previous discussions to intervene and halt the violence.

The situation remains highly volatile, and DZWatch will continue to provide updates as they become available.
