Algeria, Angola Boost Coordination Ahead of Key Summits

Algiers – Algeria and Angola are strengthening their coordination ahead of two significant international events focused on peace and security in Africa. This comes as Algeria prepares to host the International Conference on Colonial Crimes in Africa and the 12th Oran Process meeting on Peace and Security in Africa.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, held diplomatic talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Angola, António Tité, who is on a working visit to Algeria. The visit underscores the importance both nations place on aligning their efforts and fostering common African positions.

Discussions centered on bilateral relations, with both ministers reviewing the current state of the Algerian-Angolan partnership and exploring avenues for its further development. Emphasis was placed on accelerating the implementation of joint cooperation programs in the coming period.

The ministers also exchanged views on pressing issues facing the African continent, particularly concerning regional crises and current security challenges. This coordination holds particular significance given Algeria’s non-permanent membership in the United Nations Security Council and Angola’s current presidency of the African Union. This unique positioning grants both countries a pivotal role in supporting stability and amplifying Africa’s voice on the international stage.

These diplomatic moves reflect Algeria’s broader efforts to unify African efforts in addressing shared challenges and establishing new approaches to defend historical memory and advocate for the continent in matters of peace, security, and development. The upcoming summits are viewed as crucial platforms for advancing these goals and solidifying African solidarity.
