President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated on Saturday that Turkey is intensifying efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. His statement coincided with the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, observed annually on November 29th.
In a post on the Turkish social media platform ‘In Sosyal,’ Erdogan commemorated the day, saying, “I pray for mercy for all the heroes who were martyred in the Israeli attacks, and I salute our Palestinian brothers with respect and in the name of my nation.”
He further added, “As winter approaches, Turkey is making significant efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to our brothers in Gaza who are striving to heal their wounds. We in Turkey are doing everything in our power for a just and lasting peace, both in maintaining the ceasefire and delivering humanitarian aid.”
Erdogan emphasized Turkey’s steadfast commitment to a two-state solution, affirming that the nation will continue its policy in support of this resolution until the establishment of a free, independent, and sovereign State of Palestine based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, established by the United Nations in 1977, is marked annually on November 29th with solidarity events held in numerous countries worldwide. These events aim to raise awareness about the plight of the Palestinian people and their rights, which they say are violated by the Israeli occupation. Turkey has been a vocal supporter of the Palestinian cause.
