Algiers, Algeria – President Abdelmadjid Tebboune emphasized the critical importance of the upcoming African Conference on Startups, stating it will serve as a vital link connecting African nations to the global stage. The President’s remarks came during a Council of Ministers meeting held on Sunday, according to a statement released by the council.
The conference, scheduled to take place in Algeria next December, is expected to draw significant participation from across the continent and beyond. It aims to foster collaboration, facilitate investment, and provide a platform for African startups to showcase their innovative solutions.
“This conference represents a pivotal opportunity for Africa to assert its presence in the global innovation ecosystem,” a government spokesperson stated following the meeting. “By bringing together entrepreneurs, investors, and policymakers, we can create a dynamic environment for growth and development.”
The Algerian government has been actively promoting the development of its own startup ecosystem in recent years, implementing various initiatives to support young entrepreneurs and encourage innovation. This conference is seen as a key element in the country’s broader strategy to diversify its economy and attract foreign investment.
The conference is expected to feature workshops, panel discussions, and networking events, providing attendees with valuable insights and opportunities to connect with potential partners and investors. Several international organizations and venture capital firms have already expressed interest in participating, signaling the growing recognition of Africa’s potential as a hub for innovation and entrepreneurship.
President Tebboune reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting the conference and ensuring its success. He stressed the importance of creating a welcoming and conducive environment for startups to thrive, both in Algeria and across the African continent. The December conference is poised to be a landmark event, underscoring Algeria’s role as a key player in Africa’s economic development and its connection to the wider world.
