Algerian FM Attaf Meets Ivorian Counterpart Ahead of Oran Process

Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Attaf, received his Ivorian counterpart, Kakou Leon Adom, in Algiers on Sunday. Adom’s visit comes as Côte d’Ivoire currently presides over the Peace and Security Council of the African Union.

The meeting precedes the 12th session of the “Oran Process” on Peace and Security in Africa, scheduled for December 1st and 2nd. According to a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the ministers discussed key issues on the agenda for the upcoming session.

Focus on Strengthening African Unity

Both ministers emphasized the importance of strengthening the role of the Oran Process as a platform for consultation, coordination, and the unification of African positions within the United Nations Security Council. This is particularly crucial when addressing peace and security issues on the continent.

Bilateral Ties Discussed

The meeting also provided an opportunity for the ministers to reaffirm their commitment to preparing for upcoming bilateral engagements, with the aim of benefiting both nations and their people. The Ministry’s statement highlighted the shared desire for enhanced cooperation and mutually beneficial outcomes.

The Oran Process, an initiative spearheaded by Algeria, aims to foster dialogue and collaboration among African nations to address security challenges and promote stability across the continent.
