Algiers, December 1, 2025 – A new service, dubbed “ArqaamiDZ,” has been officially launched today, giving mobile phone users the ability to check how many SIM cards are registered under their name with their current mobile operator.
The announcement was made by the Postal and Electronic Communications Regulatory Authority (ARPCE). The initiative, operating under the slogan “Protecting your digital identity starts with knowing what’s registered under your name,” aims to empower subscribers to easily access this crucial information.
According to ARPCE, this proactive measure is essential for bolstering subscriber protection against potential misuse of personal data and identity theft through mobile SIM cards, which can have detrimental effects on public safety and order.
Users can access the service by dialing the unified code *254#. After dialing the code from their mobile line, subscribers will be prompted to enter their date of birth as an identity verification step. Following this, they will receive an SMS message detailing the total number of SIM cards registered in their name with that operator.
For more detailed information, subscribers are encouraged to visit their operator’s commercial agencies. Each successful request via the *254# code will incur a fee of 5 Algerian dinars, deducted directly from the subscriber’s mobile credit.
To ensure no SIM cards are registered under their name with other mobile operators, ARPCE advises subscribers to visit the commercial agencies of those operators, presenting a valid official identification document.
The Regulatory Authority emphasizes the importance of utilizing this service to verify the actual number of registered SIM cards, reiterating that digital security is a shared, urgent, and indispensable responsibility.
