DZWatch Exclusive: A crucial bridge has been completed as part of the ambitious railway project connecting Bechar, Tindouf, and Gara Djebilet. The National Agency for Studies and Monitoring of Railway Investment Achievements (ANESRIF) announced the milestone, marking significant progress on the vital infrastructure initiative.
The completed bridge, spanning an impressive 665 meters, is located on the Hamaquir El Abadla section within the Bechar province. The completion ceremony was attended by ANESRIF’s Director-General, Azzedine Fredi, along with technical staff and representatives from public institutions involved in the project.
According to Abdelkader Mezar, Central Director of Communication at ANESRIF, the project’s ahead-of-schedule completion reflects the efficiency and competence of the national companies involved. This progress follows directives issued by the Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, Abdelkader Djellaoui, during a site visit in late September, where he urged the acceleration of work to address previous delays.
Director-General Fredi, accompanied by his technical team, public institution officials, and Chinese partners, also conducted inspection visits to various sections of the railway line, including Tindouf-Oum El Assel and Hamaquir-Oum El Assel, to monitor the project’s progress. These visits aimed to assess the implementation of the Minister’s directives, particularly regarding accelerating work across the approximately 950-kilometer route.
During the tour, Fredi emphasized the importance of reinforcing human and material resources at specific workshops to improve work pace and ensure the project’s completion within the contractual timeframe, set for the end of 2025. He also stressed the need for close coordination among all stakeholders to address potential shortcomings and maintain the required quality of execution.
In related news, Abdelkader Mezar revealed that the high-speed rail line connecting Mecheria and El Bayadh, covering a distance of 130 kilometers, is expected to become operational soon. This new line will significantly enhance rail connectivity between the southern and high plateau regions, further boosting economic development.
